Message from the HSL Director
Message from the HSL Director
Dear Health Sciences Library Friends and Donors:
We are pleased to share our 2025 Milestones and Accomplishments. As we look back on the year, we are reminded that while the information landscape is changing quickly, the overarching mission of The Ohio State University Health Sciences Library (HSL) remains the same: advancing the success of the students, faculty, staff and clinicians who move health sciences forward. Our mission is strengthened by the generosity and engagement of supporters like you.
In 2025, significant behind the scenes changes and planning took place to improve the HSL’s future scalability and modernize our spaces, including:
- Migration to a new library systems management platform
- A full website redesign which began in June and was recently completed
- Repurposing remote storage shelving for the Medical Heritage Center collections
- A lovely renovation of our first-floor public space to offer a variety of comfortable seating options for learners and visitors
HSL faculty and staff continue to build expertise in areas of growing importance, especially around National Institutes of Health (NIH) data management, NIH public access policy, comprehensive literature searching, open access agreements and custom medical illustrations. The library remains committed to preserving and sharing historical collections and lectures through our Medical Heritage Center offerings.
We are also preparing for the future of health sciences education through exploring and building competency around artificial intelligence and its role in library resources and instruction. Through our EdTech Incubator, we are investing in innovative approaches to integrating technology in learning and research. As we look to create a new strategic plan that will take effect later this year, we will build on our strengths and dream about possibilities where we can continue to create positive impact in the experiences of our learners and our community.
Thank you for your interest and ongoing support. Your partnership plays a vital role in enabling the HSL to adapt, innovate and serve with excellence. Please reach out if you have any questions about our work or its impact.
Sincerely,
Stephanie J. Schulte, MLIS
