Developing our Talent
Developing our Talent
At the HSL, our people are behind everything that we do. We value collaborations and partnerships, inclusion and respect of diverse perspectives and expertise, equitable and ethical access to resources, innovative thinking and experimentation, and accountability and stewardship of our resources.
Learning while Sharing our Expertise
Organization-wide professional development workshops:
All HSL faculty and staff were encouraged to participate in two organization-wide professional development opportunities in 2025:
- CliftonStrengths (StrengthsFinder): In spring semester, our Ohio State University Libraries colleague, Beth Black, led two CliftonStrengths (StrengthsFinder) workshops. Each new HSL employee has the opportunity to take the CliftonStrengths assessment, and organization results are maintained in a strengths matrix as well as displayed at each employee’s office. Beth helped us review our strengths and facilitated activities intended to help us discover ways to work more effectively as an organization by recognizing each other’s strengths.
- Research workflows: In the autumn semester, Karla Gengler-Nowak, faculty at the Ohio State College of Optometry, presented an overview of research workflows to help HSL employees better understand how our daily work fits into the research process.
Librarian committee appointments:
HSL librarians are continually creating impact on a national, regional, state and university community level through committee appointments and thought leadership.
