Today's Hours:

Developing Students' Expertise: When and How to Integrate GenAI into Health Sciences Education

Date
Jul 30, 2026
Time
12 p.m. - 1 p.m. ET

GenAI provides opportunities for students to practice what they have learned, but it can also prevent students from developing the disciplinary knowledge they need to succeed in and outside the classroom. Identifying what we want students to know and be able to do upon completion of a course can help instructors recognize where GenAI can help students develop their expertise as well as key areas of expertise that students shouldn't offload to GenAI.

Join us for a collaborative workshop where we will discuss the types of expertise we want health sciences students to demonstrate and identify where GenAI can assist with the learning process.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Generative AI and the Novice – Expert Gap
  • How students report using GenAI
  • Identifying where GenAI is the appropriate tool for students to practice their disciplinary expertise

This workshop will not be recorded, but slides will be shared with participants.

If you require an accommodation such as live captioning or interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Sarah Norman at sarah.norman@osumc.edu or (614) 292-4861. Requests made by Thursday, July 23 will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
