The Lenel card reader at the west main entrance to Prior Hall (the door facing the Medical Center plaza) is now a tap-enabled reader.
This improvement is part of a campus-wide initiative to replace legacy magnetic stripe card readers with more secure tap technology. Medical Center BuckIDs are tap-enabled. Standard Ohio State BuckIDs issued since summer, 2023, are also tap-enabled.
You can still swipe your card at the new reader, but the magnetic stripe needs to face the left side of the reader vs. the right side for the legacy readers.
At the time this article was published, all other badge readers (including the reader at the wooden doors to enter the Health Sciences Library) remain swipe readers.
