"Study Tools: Exam & Board Prep, Case Files and Self-Assessment: on the Health Sciences Library's website, mocked up on a laptop.

The Health Sciences Library’s (HSL) electronic resource subscriptions provide a wealth of study tools including exam and board prep, case files and self-assessment.  To make these tools easier to find and use, a new LibGuide has been created.

A variety of exam and board prep resources are available including:

  • USMLE Step 1,2 and 3 and NBME shelf exams through BoardVitals and AccessMedicine
  • American Board of Anesthesiology BASIC, ADVANCED and specialty exams, and Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) practice tests through AccessAnesthesiology
  • Emergency Medicine Board Certification and Clerkship exams through AccessEmergencyMedicine
  • Pediatrics Board Review in AccessPediatrics
  • North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) through AccessPharmacy
  • National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) and board review including simulated exams, flashcards and video prep sessions through AccessPhysiotherapy
  • American Board of Surgery In-Training Examination (ABSITE) through AccessSurgery
  • Plastic Surgery Board Review through MedOne Plastic Surgery

Hundreds of cases on topics including clinical medicine, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, pediatrics, pharmacy, physical and occupational therapy, and surgery are available through the HSL's subscriptions to McGraw Hill's Access products.  In addition to these, cases are also available in the LWW Health Library, MedOne Plastic Surgery, Annals of Internal Medicine and the New England Journal of Medicine.

Many of these resources also provide self-assessment questions through included textbooks.  Thousands of multiple-choice questions are available with personalized tracking features offering immediate feedback for exam prep and study.

The new guide also provides links to a variety of anatomy study tools including Acland’s Video Atlas of Human Anatomy, Anatomy and Physiology Revealed, e-Anatomy, Gross Anatomy Lectures and NetAnatomy. Additional video resources include Bates’ Visual Guide to Physical Examination and OSCE Clinical Skills videos, Biomedical & Life Sciences Lectures by Leading World Experts, JoVE video research journals and the JoVE Encyclopedia of Experiments and Sports Medicine and Exercise Science in Video.
