Earn and Claim Continuing Education Credit Through HSL Resources

by Joe Payne, MLIS

A new Health Sciences Library (HSL) guide provides information and instructions for earning and claiming continuing education (CE) credits through a variety of HSL licensed resources, including UpToDate, ClinicalKey, McGraw-Hill Access Medicine and others.

While each resource has a unique interface and specific steps, they all follow the same general workflow.

  1. Access the resource through the HSL or Integrated Healthcare Information System (IHIS).
  2. Sign in or sign up for a personal account to enable tracking of CE and other personalized features of each resource.
  3. Search, browse or read content to inform your clinical practice.
  4. Complete a survey or assessment to claim credit.
  5. Download certificates to keep track of claimed credit.

These resources provide Category 1 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit and, in some cases, Maintenance of Certification (MOC) or Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credit.

Visit the new guide for more detailed information about the available resources and how to earn and claim continuing education credits.
