Apps

Library databases are accessible through the web browser of you mobile device, however some offer mobile Apps are that are available due to library or medical center subscriptions. Download and activate them by following the instructions below from the OSU network or while signed in for off campus access.

Find clinical answers at the point of care or anywhere you need them with the UpToDate mobile App.

  1. Access UpToDate from the library website and register for a free personal account.

  2. Download and install the UpToDate app from the App Store.

  3. Launch the App and enter your UpToDate username and password when prompted.  

The First Consult App is a clinical decision support resource available due to the library’s subscription to ClinicalKey.

  1. Access ClinicalKey from the library website and create a free personal account.

  2. Download and install the First Consult app from the App Store.

  3. Open the App, select the “I use First Consult and know my user name” option, and enter your ClinicalKey username and password when prompted. 

The BrowZine App allows you to find, read, and monitor scholarly journals by creating a personalized bookshelf of your favorite journals and saving PDF articles to read at your convenience.

  1. Download the BrowZine App from the App Store.

  2. Open the BrowZine App and select Ohio State University as your library.

  3. Enter your OSU internet username (name.#) and password for access to OSU subscribed journals. 

Micromedex provides 3 drug information apps due to OSU's subscription: Micromedex Free Drug Reference, Micromedex Drug Interactions and Micromedex IV Compatibility. For instructions to install and activate these apps:

  1. Access Micromedex from the databases page on the library website.

  2. Click on the “Download Center” link near the top right corner of the screen.

  3. Follow the instructions on this page to install and activate these Apps.

The AccessMedicine App provides point of care information from Quick Medical Diagnosis & Treatment, Fitzpatrick's Color Atlas of Clinical Dermatology, the Pocket Guide to Diagnostic Tests, and a differential diagnosis tool.

  1. Connect to AccessMedicine from the library website and register for a free MyAccess account.

  2. Download and install the AccessMedicine app from the App Store.

  3. Launch the App and enter your MyAccess username and password when prompted. 

The Stat!Ref App provides access to subscribed books including AHFS Drug Information, Taber’s Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary, Davis’s Drug Guide for Nurses, and more.

  1. Download the Stat!Ref App from the App Store.

  2. While on the OSU network, open the App and select the Group Authentication (IP Address) option,enter OSUHSC in the Group Alias box, and tap “Logon.”

  3. From off campus, follow the instructions within the App to create a temporary login account.
