What is Covidence?
Covidence is a systematic review production tool for collaborative title/abstract screening, full-text screening, data abstraction and quality assessment. It can be used to:
- Bulk import references from databases and citation management tools
- Deduplicate records
- Track citations through the screening and data extraction steps
- Add tags and notes to citations that all review team members can view
- Bulk upload PDFs for full-text review
- Document each step of your review process to ensure transparent reporting
- Create PRISMA flowcharts
Are you working on a scoping review or a rapid review? Don’t worry, Covidence is a useful tool for a range of evidence synthesis projects and can help you stay organized and on task.
Why should I use Covidence?
Systematic, scoping and other review types take a significant amount of time and effort to produce. Using Covidence to manage citations, facilitate the screening process and document your process can streamline your project and allow team members access to necessary parts of the project.
Additionally, access to Covidence is free to Ohio State faculty, staff and students; you can create unlimited reviews using your Ohio State access and invite team members from other institutions to your project.
How do I access Covidence?
If you have never used Covidence before, you will need to create an account, following these steps:
- Visit the Ohio State University Covidence sign-up page.
- Enter your name and osu.edu or osumc.edu email on the sign in page.
- You will receive an email inviting you to Covidence.
- Follow the link in the email and click on "Create an Account."
If you already created an account with Covidence:
You will need to link your account with our institutional access in order to create unlimited free reviews. Link your account with the following steps:
- Visit the Ohio State University Covidence sign-up page.
- Enter your name and osu.edu or osumc.edu email.
- You will receive an email inviting you to Covidence.
- Follow the link in the email and sign into your Covidence account.
- You should then be able to create unlimited reviews using your Ohio State access. If you did not sign up with your Ohio State email on your original account, you will not be able to link your account to our institutional access.
Once you have signed up under our institutional subscription, you can access Covidence by going directly to the Covidence website.
Can I invite people from other institutions to my review in Covidence?
Yes; once your account is linked to our institutional license you can invite team members from other institutions.
