Today's Hours:

Basic Search Strategy Development

Date
Jan 27, 2026
Time
12 p.m. - 1 p.m. ET

Join us for an introduction to developing a search strategy. There are several basic principles to keep in mind when creating a search strategy, regardless of what database you are using, and this workshop will provide you with the general skills needed to apply these principles in a variety of scenarios.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Steps to plan out your search
  • PICO framework
  • Developing search terms
  • Boolean operators
  • Selecting a database

Previous searching experience is not required. This workshop is ideal for students, faculty, or staff new to literature searching, as well as those with some experience but looking for a refresher.

Can’t make the workshop? Check out our Basic Searching Tutorial.

If you require an accommodation such as live captioning or interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Sarah Norman at sarah.norman@osumc.edu or (614) 292-4861. Requests made by Tuesday, January 20 will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
