Citation Guides
Whether doing a course paper or presentation, organizing evidence for improving patient care or writing a manuscript for publication: your resources need to be cited properly.
There are many different citation style guides. Below are some of the more commonly used styles in the health sciences.

American Medical Association – Purdue OWL Guide
Based on the AMA Manual of Style: A Guide for Authors and Editors, 11th edition, (recommended for biomedical sciences, medicine, and dentistry). Provides examples for citing both printed and electronic resources, both in the text of manuscripts and in reference lists.

American Psychological Association - A Citation Guide
Based on the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition, (recommended for nursing, anatomy, occupational therapy, social, and behavioral sciences) this guide provides examples for citing books; book chapters; encyclopedia, journal, magazine, and newspaper articles; YouTube videos, podcasts and more.

Chicago Manual of Style Citation Guide - Author-Date
Based on The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition, this guide provides examples in Author-Date style (recommended for physical, natural, and social sciences) for citing books; encyclopedia, journal, magazine, and newspaper articles; e-books and journals; and Internet resources.

Chicago Manual of Style Citation Guide - Notes-Bibliography
Based on The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition, this guide provides examples in the Notes-Bibliography style (recommended for literature, history, and the arts) for citing books; encyclopedia, journal, magazine, and newspaper articles; e-books and journals; and Internet resources. Specific examples can be found in chapter 14 of this manual.

Citing Medicine: The NLM Style Guide
A citation guide for reference sources commonly used in biomedical manuscripts. Also called the "Vancouver Style" (recommended for dentistry and dental hygiene) and s the style indicated in the International Council of Medical Journal Editor’s (ICMJE’s) Recommendations for Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals.

CSE (Science) Citation Guide
Based on the Scientific Style and Format: The CSE Manual for Authors, Editors, and Publishers, 7th edition, (recommended for biological sciences) this guide provides examples for citing books; book chapters; journal articles; conference papers and abstracts; technical reports; and dissertations theses.

Modern Language Association Citation Guide
