Prior 214 Residency and Fellowship Virtual Interview Room

The Ohio State University Health Sciences Library (HSL) Residency and Fellowship Virtual Interview Room (Prior 214) is located on the 2nd floor of the HSL and is available for use via advance reservation only. Reservations are accepted up to four weeks in advance; please allow up to five business days for your reservation request to be approved.

Prior 214 is locked; pre-approved users should allow extra time to obtain the room key and room status (e.g., “occupied”) door hanger sign at the HSL’s front desk to access the room. The room is available only during the library’s normal operating hours.

Technology support for Prior 214 is not available through medical center/college IT support or HSL staff. Faulty equipment must be reported to the HSL front desk by calling (614) 292-4861 or by notifying front desk staff when you return the room key and door hanger sign.

How to use this space

  • Final year graduate students in the Ohio State Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Optometry, Public Health and the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, may use this room for the purposes of attending virtual interviews for residencies
  • Current Ohio State residents may use this room for the purpose of attending virtual interviews for fellowships
  • Current Ohio State fellows may use this room for the purpose of attending virtual interviews for post-fellowship employment

    • HDMI cable connection for personal laptop (supply your own adapters as needed)
    • Public computer with webcam (integrated microphone and speakers) accessory, with ability to sign into Office 365, Teams and Zoom

*We encourage you to bring your own headphones if you prefer.

Technical specifications

Bring your own device (BYOD)

  1. Connect device with HDMI cable. You must provide adapters as needed.
  2. Turn on the monitor with remote.
  3. Set the source to HDMI3.
  4. Use OSUMC Guest Internet Wifi as needed.
  5. The monitor uses your device's speakers for sound. Use the remote to adjust the volume.

Note: navigate device settings to change the default sound source if you want the sound to come from a different source (e.g., the monitor).

If using Bluetooth headphones/earbuds, the volume can be controlled only by using the Speaker icon on the desktop. The TV remote and Logi pad will NOT work.

Use our device

The computer is unlocked and medical center log in credentials are not required for access. User should restart the computer before leaving the room, to ensure user profiles or information from previous sessions are not saved. External USB devices are not supported.

  1. Turn on the monitor with remote.
  2. Set the source to HDMI1.
  3. Turn keyboard and mouse into the On position.
  4. Wake up the computer by tapping the space bar or clicking the mouse.
  5. Connect to OSUWMC Guest Internet Wifi. The computer will not connect automatically.
  6. Use the browser to connect to Office 365, Teams or Zoom using the appropriate credentials.
  7. Only the square Logi pad can control speaker volume.

Restart the computer after use – this step ensures your session info is erased.

  1. Double-click the "Double Click When Done Using PC" icon on the desktop.
  2. A popup confirming you are signing out will appear and the computer will restart in one minute.

Technology troubleshooting tips

Issue: The computer is not connected to the internet.
Tip: The computer does not automatically connect to Wifi, so be sure to first connect to OSUMC Guest Internet Wifi.

Issue: Teams cannot be located or doesn't open.
Tip: Once connected to Wifi, a Teams window may automatically open, prompting you to sign in. If it does not, you can search for the Teams app.

Issue: The computer is asking for user "HSLK" to enter a password.
Tip: If you encounter a blue screen for user "HSLK" that asks for a password to log in, restart the computer by clicking the power button in the bottom right side of the screen.

Issue: There's another active session on the computer at the start of your reservation time.
Tip: If someone else's session is still active when you enter the room, double-click the "Double Click When Done Using PC" icon on the desktop to restart the computer.

Logi pad usage tips

  • The Logi pad controls the integrated webcam and microphone for the Prior 214 computer.
  • The webcam will auto-center and zoom after the meeting begins.
  • You can use the pad to:
    • Manually zoom in or out
    • Change the camera angle
    • Mute integrated microphone
    • Answer/end Teams calls. This feature does not work for Zoom.

Usage policies and guidelines

  • Room occupancy is limited to one person.
  • Room will be locked at all times. Users must be pre-approved to use the room and obtain a room key at the HSL’s front desk to access the room.
  • Food and covered drinks are permitted.
  • Please be mindful of volume and respectful of adjacent rooms. This room is located within library staff space. Close the door during your interview and do not enter any rooms other than the designated interview room.
  • Use of staff equipment located outside the room—including the microwave, fridge or coffee machine—is prohibited. 
  • Individualized technology support is not available. A device and monitor are provided, with usage instructions in the room. You are encouraged to bring your own device and accessories (e.g., charger, headset).
  • The HSL may cancel your reservation if the room is not occupied within 30 minutes of the scheduled start time. 
  • Occupant must vacate the room and return the room key and door hanger sign by library closing time, regardless of interview status. 
  • Remove all trash and personal items when you leave the room.
  • The door must be closed and locked when you leave. 
  • Room key and door hanger sign must be returned to the HSL front desk by the end of your reservation period. Failure to return the key and the door sign on time may result in overdue fines.
