Medical Illustration

Transnasal ApproachMedical Visuals is your campus resource for high-quality, custom medical illustration at a fair price. Medical illustration is a highly specialized field that requires extensive training in both art and science. This dual training allows the illustrator to effectively collaborate on projects with complex medical content. Illustrators excel at distilling information, paring it down to the essentials for communicating visually to the target audience.

Types of Medical Illustrations

There are many different purposes for medical illustration. For all types of work, medical illustrators work with scientists or physicians to enhance their projects with anatomically correct and easy-to-understand supporting visuals. You could say that a medical illustration is worth a thousand words (or more)! Here are our most-requested types of medical illustrations with work examples below.

  • Surgical illustration
  • Patient education
  • Scholarly publication
  • Grant application figures

The Medical Illustration Process

If you are interested in starting a medical illustration project, below is a brief overview of how the process works from start to finish.

1. Submit your project request
2. Meet with our Medical Visuals team for a project kick-off call.
3. Receive a quote for your project. The project starts after the quote is approved.
4. Receive a first draft and give feedback to your medical illustrator.
5. Approve of the illustration for publishing, typically after one or two rounds of revisions.
