Hidden Gems of the Health Sciences Library

Situated on the corner of West 10th and Medical Center Drive in Prior Hall, there may be a lot you do not know about the Health Sciences Library (HSL). We are a five-floor library with space to study, have meetings, teach online or hybrid classes, get a coffee, store your belongings and much more. Below, we highlight some student and faculty-favorite spaces if you’re new to The Ohio State University or simply want a refresher!

24-hour Access to the Third Floor

If you need a place to meet or study outside of business hours, sign up for Extended Library Access (ELA) to have 24-hour access to the third floor. If you are an active student or staff member, you can request to have ELA privileges, and once accepted, you can swipe into the library outside of open hours.

Private Spaces for In-person or Virtual Meetings

Have a meeting that you need a quiet space for? You can reserve a study room on the third floor. If those are full, you can also use one of the sound-proof pods, located on the first and third floors, which are first-come-first-served.

Reservable Computer Lab and Tech-Enhanced Room

On our fourth floor, we have a computer lab and tech-enhanced classroom (TEC) that can be reserved for a meeting, training or class. The TEC was recently renovated with webcams and individual connectivity across 5 interactive displays, which is great for hybrid lessons and meetings. You can reserve this spaces and get technology help through Events & Video Production department.

Quick and Delicious Café

Don’t worry if you don’t have time to go somewhere to eat, The Caffeine Element café, located on the first floor of Prior Hall, is stocked with bagels, pastries, sandwiches, yogurt and much more. There is also coffee and tea available hot, iced or frozen if you need a boost of energy.

3-Day Locker Check-out

Away from your office or home and want to store your belongings? We have lockers on the third floor available for checkout for up to three days. Just go to the front desk on the first floor to get a key.

Large Conference Room for Study Space and Classes

If you are looking for a space to have a class or seminar, then you can reserve newly renovated Room 550 that is equipped with three television displays, two cameras and a sound system throughout the room. After a full renovation, it was opened on June 26th as a public study space unless reserved for private events and comfortably seats 62-110 people.
