EdTech Incubator

The EdTech Incubator (ETI), located on the HSL's fourth floor in Prior Hall, empowers enhanced education for future generations of health sciences professionals and inspires forward-thinking research that impacts Ohio communities and beyond.

ETI steering committee is led by the HSL and consists of faculty and staff from partner units/health sciences colleges, medical students and residents. Steering committee members help set the direction for the ETI, including the technology that is included in each zone.

ETI Workshop Sessions Held

In 2024, 203 workshop sessions were taught in the ETI with 1,172 attendees. Sessions ranged from general zone orientation sessions to more individualized learning.

Cardiologist Blair Suter, MD Uses VR Technology for Medical Education

Ohio State cardiologist Dr. Blair Suter is exploring virtual reality for better visualization of medical scans. With syGlass, he’s creating immersive learning experiences for medical trainees that can help improve procedural planning in the future.

PhD Candidate Joshua Krech Uses 3D Printing for Resident Training Dissertation Project

Joshua Krech, a PhD candidate in Anatomy at Ohio State University, is using 3D printing to revolutionize medical training. Through his dissertation, Krech is developing a 3D-printed hip joint model for training medical residents in ultrasound-guided needle injections. Traditional methods are costly and limited, but Krech’s high-fidelity models provide a cost-effective, repeatable alternative.

THE Studio Space Receives Make-over

In 2024, the HSL continued to improve continuity between the ETI's various technology zones by creating permanent graphics to help identify THE Studio spaces. These graphics, a collaboration between the HSL and third party vendor, Curv, were the culmination of nearly a year's worth of design work. Stop by if you happen to be on campus — we think they look pretty great!
