Knowing What You Don't Know: Using GenAI to Encourage Students' Information Evaluation Behavior Workshop

Tuesday, October 14
Noon – 1 p.m. EDT
Online Workshop led by Katie Blocksidge, Associate Professor, HSL Head of Research and Education Services

As part of OSU’s AI Fluency Initiative, students will explore the potential benefits and limitations of common AI tools in the context of their discipline; what could this look like for the health sciences? Join us for a collaborative workshop where we will discuss how students report using Generative AI, and how to develop instruction and class sessions encouraging students in the health sciences to explore the authority and context of information generated through AI.

Topics to be covered include:

  • How students report using GenAI
  • GenAI use cases in health science disciplines
  • Novice – Expert Gap
  • How to encourage students to critically analyze and use GenAI tools within the health science disciplines

This workshop is ideal for instructional faculty who are interested in incorporating discussions of GenAI in their courses.

Please note: This workshop will not be recorded, so come prepared to engage and ask questions!

If you require an accommodation such as live captioning or interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Katherine Hoffman at katherine.hoffman@osumc.edu or (614) 292-4861. Requests made by Tuesday, October 7 will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
