Basic Search Strategy Development Workshop

Tuesday, September 30
2 – 3 p.m. EDT
Online Workshop led by Kaylie Vermillion, HSL Research Librarian, Research and Education

Join us for an introduction to developing a search strategy.  There are several basic principles to keep in mind when creating a search strategy, regardless of what database you are using, and this workshop will provide you with the general skills needed to apply these principles in a variety of scenarios.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Steps to plan out your search
  • PICO framework
  • Developing search terms
  • Boolean operators
  • Selecting a database

Previous searching experience is not required.  This workshop is ideal for students, faculty, or staff new to literature searching, as well as those with some experience but looking for a refresher.

If you require an accommodation such as live captioning or interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Katherine Hoffman at katherine.hoffman@osumc.edu or (614) 292-4861. Requests made by Tuesday, September 23 will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
