Adventures in PosterLand: A Guide to Printing Your Scientific Research Posters
Whether you are a doctor designing a medical poster for an annual conference, or a student needing a poster for a class presentation for the first time in your academic journey—our Medical Visuals team can be your helpful guide. We offer many services that are important to you on your educational adventure, but what you may find most valuable are our poster printing services. Medical Visuals prints high-quality scientific posters and large-format graphics on photo-quality paper, cloth or adhesive-backed material. We also provide design support, layout review and a proof. There may be other places to get your posters printed but few will have the quality materials and experienced staff that can help provide you with a high quality, professional looking poster.
On the Poster and Large Format Printing page, you can upload your poster file. You can upload your original PowerPoint file or send it in as a PDF. The normal turnaround time to print a research poster is one to two days.
Once your art is received, the Medical Visuals team will send you an e-mail with a digital proof for you to look over. If you prefer a small, printed paper proof that can be requested as well. Once you look it over and you are sure it looks the way you want, you can e-mail us letting us know your poster is approved to print. Once it is printed, you will be sent an e-mail letting you know it is ready to be picked up at the front desk of the Health Sciences Library in Prior Hall. After you pick up your poster you will be sent an e-mail with an invoice and directions on how to pay. You can pay for your poster with Ohio State funds or with personal funds by using your credit card. This is important for us to know in advance so we can send you the right type of invoice.
Medical Visuals uses an 8-mil satin photo paper and an 8-mil satin cloth banner material. Both materials look very clean and very professional. A normal sized poster is anywhere between 12-15 square feet. Paper is $6.00 per square foot and cloth is $8.00 per square foot. Cloth is good when traveling because you can throw it in your bag and later can be slightly ironed or blown dry to get wrinkles out. The type of material is mostly up to you. However, certain seminars may have a preference for what type of material to use and what size to print the poster. Make sure you check your conference requirements before submitting your poster.
The Medical Visuals team takes pride in providing you a quality scientific research poster within the timeframe you need it. Contact us over phone or email, or come in and see us on the fourth floor of Prior Hall in Suite 410. We look forward helping you sail the seas of success.
