Print with Ease: Comprehensive Guide to HSL Printing Services

The Health Sciences Library (HSL) offers a range of printing services designed to meet the diverse needs of our community. Whether you’re printing a simple document or creating a large research poster, we have the resources and support to help you succeed.

Public Printing Services

The HSL provides convenient access to printing services for all users:

  • Location: Public printers are available on the first floor of the library.
  • Payment: BuckID is the only accepted form of payment for printing.

Costs:

  • Black and white: 6 cents per page (single-sided), 12 cents per page (double-sided)
  • Color: 20 cents per page (single-sided), 40 cents per page (double-sided)
  • Note: Only the multi-function photocopier supports color.
  • The HSL supplies standard 8.5 x 11-inch paper for printing.

Follow Me Printing

Follow Me Printing allows you to send print jobs from your device or a public computer and retrieve them from any compatible printer on campus:

  1. Send your print job to the Follow Me Printing queue from your device or a public computer.
  2. Go to any compatible printer on campus.
  3. Swipe your BuckID or log in to release your print job.

For web version instructions:

  1. Open your web browser and go to followmeprinting.osu.edu.
  2. Log in using your name.# and password.
  3. Select “Upload” and navigate to the file located/saved on your device.
  4. Select the print job(s) and edit the print options at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Find an available Follow Me Printer. Swipe your BuckID and select “Print Release” to print

Note: Customers can also access this through a web browser by visiting go.osu.edu/MobilePrint.

This service is available for students, staff and faculty as it requires an Ohio State last name.# and password. For detailed instructions, visit the UniPrint website or ask a library staff member for assistance.

Copying and Scanning Services

A multi-function photocopier is available for copying and scanning needs:

  • Location: First floor of the library near the Office of Global Health.
  • Payment: BuckID is the only accepted form of payment for copying.

Costs:

  • Same as printing (6 cents for black and white, 20 cents for color per page).
  • Scanning: The copier can be used as a scanner to email documents at no charge.

If you need assistance with scanning or have no balance on your BuckID, please reach out to a member of the library staff.

Poster and Large Format Printing

For academic posters and other large-format printing needs, HSL offers high-quality printing through Medical Visuals:

  • Services: Design consultation and proofing services are available.
  • Materials: Choose between traditional paper or a cloth-like material that's easier to transport.

Costs:

  • Paper Poster: $6.00 per square foot (regular), $9.00 per square foot (rush)
  • Cloth Poster: $8.00 per square foot (regular), $12.00 per square foot (rush)
  • Process: Upload your poster files via the Medical Visuals Poster Upload Form. Proofs are provided before final printing.

BuckID and Payment Information

To use printing services at HSL, you'll need to have funds on your BuckID. Here's how to add money to your account:

  • Online: Add funds through the BuckID website using a payment card. (Minimum $10.00, maximum $999.99)
  • In-person: Cash deposits are accepted only at the BuckID office.

Services for Guest Patrons

Guest patrons are welcome to use the printing and copying services at the Health Sciences Library:

  • Non-Ohio State guests can obtain a Guest Card for printing/copying services from Circulation desks at any library location.
  • Guest Cards can be used for all public printing and copying services at HSL.
