HSL Medical Illustrators’ Art on Display in IHSC
The Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Center (IHSC) at The Ohio State University was a $157.3 million renovation and building project at Hamilton Hall that provides “upgraded and flexible facilities to create a collaborative campus for interprofessional education throughout the Health Sciences.” Just a short walk from the HSL and Wexner Medical Center, the IHSC is equipped with the latest education technology for hands-on, collaborative learning and flexible teaching spaces.
To bring life into the space, medical illustrations from the HSL’s Medical Visuals team are on display on four floors of the building from the lower level up to the third floor. All the art featured in this multi-floor installation was chosen from our illustrators’ vast library of work done for previous research projects, patient education and surgical illustration, among other types of work.
Additionally, the installation offers QR codes for people to learn more about the history of medical illustration and the discipline. Check out the webpages below to see what professionals are learning from the installation:
- We answer the question, “What is Medical Illustration?” on our Medical illustration webpage
- The Origins of Medical Illustration at Ohio State is on our Medical Visuals webpage
Pictured below are a few images taken of the medical art installation at the IHSC, but we encourage everyone in Health Sciences to go see the new building and art in person!
