Thursday, April 6
5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. EDT

Online Workshop led by Anna Biszaha, Assistant Professor, HSL Research and Education Librarian

Join us for a discussion of advanced searching techniques. For those who already have a good grasp of the foundations of comprehensive searching, this workshop will dive into some of the more nitty-gritty aspects of searching and provide strategies to take control of your search.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Review of basic search syntax
  • Advanced search syntax, such as truncation, phrases, and field codes
  • Database-specific search features, such as PubMed’s Automatic Term Mapping
  • Search Translation
  • Search Comparison or Testing

This workshop is open to undergraduate, graduate, or professional health science students preparing to work on in-depth research projects. Students outside of the health sciences are also welcome to register, but please be aware that the content of the presentations will be focused on the health sciences.

This workshop is part of the Student Research Workshop Series.

Please note, this workshop will not be recorded, but slides will be shared with participants.

If you require an accommodation such as live captioning or interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Katherine Hoffman at katherine.hoffman@osumc.edu or (614) 292-4861. Requests made by Thursday, March 30 will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
