Dr. Ludmerer's lecture is titled, “Residency Training in the United States: Past, Present, Future.”
This presentation will discuss the origins and evolution of the residency system in U.S. medical education. Residency training will be presented in both its educational and cultural context, and the relationship between the quality of residency training and the quality of patient care will be described. The talk will conclude with a discussion of current issues and dilemmas in residency training.
