About Hal O. Anger
Proven Innovator: Hal O. Anger was born on May 20, 1920. Anger was an electrical engineer and biophysicist at Donner Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley. During his career, Anger became best known for inventing the scintillation camera, which is also known as the gamma and/or Anger camera.
About the Camera
What is the Camera? Scintillation is a process in which light of a characteristic spectrum is emitted following the absorption of radiation. The Anger Scintillation Camera is a device used to image gamma radiation emitting radioisotopes. It was a huge breakthrough in nuclear medical imaging and is still widely used today.
