December is Healthy Eating Month. While it is important to try to keep healthy eating habits in mind year-round, December is a great time to start thinking about forming and/or keeping up healthy eating habits in the new year.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention, healthy eating is not hard. Some keys are to:

  • Eat a variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables and whole-grain products
  • Eat lean meats, poultry, fish, beans and low-fat dairy products
  • Drink lots of water
  • Limit salt, sugar, alcohol, saturated fat and trans fat in your diet
