Medicine (link to the college's centennial page) Although it traces its origins to 1834 with the founding of Willoughby University of Lake Erie, the College of Medicine is celebrating 2014 as 100 years of being part of The Ohio State University. Nursing (link to the college's centennial page) In 1914 The Ohio State University acquired the Cleveland-Pulte Medical College, a homeopathic college, and created a College of Homeopathic Medicine. The first hospital on campus, run out of a house on Neil Avenue formerly known as the “Little Dorm,” was run by this College. The Homeopathic Hospital required a nursing staff and, thus, the start of the Homeopathic Hospital Training School for Nurses, a three-year diploma program, began in 1914. Optometry (link to the college's centennial page) The College of Optometry began in 1914 as a two-year certificate program in Applied Optics. |
