Several new Open Access agreements are available in 2024. Open access agreements can help publishing authors at The Ohio State University save on article processing fees. The HSL website’s Open Access and Publication Support webpage includes information about all currently available agreements.

Springer – OhioLINK (2024-2026)

• OhioLINK has negotiated a new hybrid Open Access agreement with Springer Nature for 2024-2026. This adds access to 700+ additional Springer Nature titles and limited Open Access publishing benefits at no cost to Ohio State corresponding authors in eligible hybrid journals published by Springer Nature (including many Springer, Palgrave, Adis, and academic journals at nature.com). Nature portfolio journals such as Nature and Scientific American and fully Open Access journals are not included in this agreement. There is an annual maximum number of articles that may be published Open Access under this agreement that aligns with historical publishing trends.

Elsevier – OhioLINK (2024-2027)

• OhioLINK negotiated a new hybrid Open Access publishing agreement with Elsevier for 2024-2027 offering limited Open Access publishing benefits in eligible hybrid journals. There is an annual maximum number of articles that may be published Open Access under the agreement. The limit increases over the four years from a relatively low cap in 2024 to a higher cap in 2027 in line with average publishing activity. It is expected that the article limits will be reached, particularly in the first year.

Biochemical Society – Big Ten Academic Alliance (2023-2026)

• A 3 year Read and Publish Agreement through the Big Ten Academic Alliance began November 1, 2023 and continues through December 21,2026 covering OSU open access publishing in all Biochemical Society journals. HSL’s subscription to Clinical Science was moved to the BTAA to participate in this agreement.

Royal Society of Chemistry – University Libraries (2024-2026)

• University Libraries began a 3 year Read and Publish Agreement for 2024-2026 covering OSU open access publishing in all RSC journals.

Wiley – OhioLINK (Expanded)

• The existing OhioLINK agreement has been updated and expands to cover Open Access publishing for OSU authors in more than 600 Wiley and Hindawi fully open access journals in addition to the 1,300 hybrid journals already covered by the agreement.
