HSL Expands Access to JoVE Videos
Associate Professor of Practice, HSL Collection Development Librarian
In response to feedback from the Ohio State faculty, student and researcher community, the Health Sciences Library (HSL) has expanded our subscription to JoVE to include all JoVE Research (video journal) content. This has expanded our access from three video journals to 13 plus the JoVE Encyclopedia of Experiments. We have also negotiated free bonus access to some of the most requested JoVE Education content through June of 2026. Explore all available JoVE sections using our Ohio State access link.
JoVE Research includes access to over 10,000 videos illustrating experiments and research techniques across 13 science disciplines with clear, detailed illustrations of various scientific techniques and concepts. Video articles are peer-reviewed and indexed in PubMed and Web of Science and include text and video format. JoVE’s mission is to increase the productivity of research and education in science, medicine and engineering by increased transparency and reproducibility. Rather than spending hours replicating experiments in the lab, one can utilize time more efficiently by watching JoVE videos.
Instructors can request a free syllabus mapping of JoVE videos specifically tailored to their course as well as LMS integration support to easily add JoVE content to CarmenCanvas. Register for our vendor-led workshop on July 23rd for an overview of what JoVE has to offer, including practical demonstrations on:
- How JoVE videos impact instruction and support student success
- Using JoVE for your own research and training
- Creating fully editable quizzes
- Embedding JoVE into CarmenCanvas
- Mapping to course syllabi, textbooks and OpenStax
