Check and Update Your Links to Library Resources

by Joe Payne, MLIS

The new Libraries Search system has now had a couple months to settle in and autumn semester is in full swing! If you have links from our old system bookmarked and/or permalinks included in CarmenCanvas or other course materials, we strongly encourage you to double check these links to ensure students have seamless access to the information they need.

Some issues have been reported as part of the migration to the new Libraries Search resource discovery system where links to library resources such as eJournals, eBooks and databases may not forward as expected.  Please check any links you may have in places like Carmen Canvas, course syllabi or even your bookmarks to make sure they are working.

If you discover broken links, you can find a new link to use within Libraries Search.  All records in Libraries Search have a permalink option in the “Send to” section of the record display.  Clicking on the permalink icon will display a link that can be copied and pasted to provide access to library resources. Libraries Search will automatically prompt for off-campus login when needed to provide the most seamless access to library resources as possible.

Selecting the “permalink” option will generate a library record link for the resource that can then be copied and pasted into course materials
