Circulation FAQ

In accordance with local, state and national directives to increase social distancing and to maintain the health of our customers, staff and community, access to Prior Hall and the Health Sciences Library remain limited. However, our staff is available to assist you virtually during this time:

  • Live chat hours: Monday through Friday, 12 – 4 PM EDT. Look for the green “Ask a Librarian” button on our home page; or
  • Email (hslinfo@osumc.edu)
  • Ask A Librarian Question Form: Use our Ask A Librarian Question Form to ask an OSU health sciences librarian your question. We strive to answer these questions within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.

FAQs

Can patrons return books?

Library materials may now be returned. However, for health and safety considerations, please observe our contact-less return process and return your materials in the library book drop. The book drop is located outside the building, south of the main Prior Hall entrance, on the wall facing the plaza.

Returned materials will be quarantined for five days before being checked in. If you are not on campus, please continue to keep your library materials and renew them as needed. You can confirm due dates and/or renew your Ohio State University Libraries, OhioLINK and SearchOhio items online by logging into My Library Account.

Can I place a hold on materials?

Beginning August 24, visitors will be able to place holds on materials to pick up at the Health Sciences Library. A picture ID will be required to pick up materials. If you have badge access to the library, you can check out your materials at the Public Services Desk inside the library on the first floor. If you do not have badge access to the library, please call the number posted on the front door when you arrive, and a librarian will coordinate your pickup with you. If you're not sure if you have library access, please visit our Reopening Information page or check with your College.

Will loans be extended? 

We have extended all due dates until the end of the summer semester.  You can renew materials from your Ohio State University Libraries, OhioLINK and SearchOhio items online by logging into My Library Account.
